As long as there’s a new project on the horizon, the creative journey never ends. Especially when you have a machine with as many possibilities as the Horizon Memory Craft 12000.
This is a machine so well designed and built, it’s like an extension of your own two hands.
The Horizon Memory Craft 12000 was engineered to be forgotten. Because you never need to worry about performance, you can focus all your energy on your projects. That is when the journey starts and creativity blooms.
It’s easy to create and edit designs on the touchscreen. But it’s even easier when you can do the same thing in real time on your computer. Use your mouse to drag, drop and edit. This means your editing screen can be as large as your computer monitor. Or take your laptop with you to edit on the go.
There's nothing quite like the feeling of finishing your quilt. The top is done, your layers are put together and you're smoothly quilting through it all. It's wonderful, unless the bottom layers aren't feeding at the same speed as the top layers.
Several years ago, to solve this problem, we introduced the AcuFeed System. It soon became a favorite among quilters for its ability to move multiple layers under the needle with perfect precision. But as we were developing an AcuFeed just for the MC12000, we knew we could make it even better.
The new AcuFeed Flex feeding system gives you even better feeding results. It utilizes two widths of sewing feet. And you can easily detach it from your machine when not in use.
With the MC12000 having a 9mm stitch width, the new Dual Feed Twin Type feet take full advantage of this wider stance. They use both of the upper feed dogs in conjunction with the lower feed dogs. They give you extra feeding traction and allow you to use the machine's wider decorative stitches.
Dual Feed Single Type feet are just the thing for getting in close. Designed to feed narrower fabrics, you'll use them when you want to sew in piping or attach a zipper.
For both kinds of feet, the upper feed mechanism quickly detaches from the machine, and the feet are easily detached from the holder. For easier installation and removal, the rotation stopper has been eliminated, making it easier to access the screw.
Enjoy a level of creativity never before available on a Janome. You can actually create your own decorative stitches from scratch, and adjust them down to the finest detail.
With the software installed on your PC, you simply begin by clicking your mouse on the starting point icon and then clicking where you'd like to begin on the stitch grid. Each point you click after that is where the needle will make its next penetration. Create your stitch just like doing a dot-to-dot with straight lines or curves (where you use more points) until you have your stitch completed. Then you can go back and make fine adjustments, moving any of your points. You can copy and paste to repeat sections, making your stitch as complex as you like.
As you work you can play an animation of what your original stitch will look like as the machine sews it out.
When you're all done, you can save your stitch to your PC in the new .stx file format. Then click the Send button to transfer it to your MC12000 for stitching.
Let's say you want your stitch to look like a little cup and saucer. You can import an image of a cup and saucer into the Stitch Composer program to use as a background image. Now you can trace around the image to make your stitch just the shape you want.
Go beyond adjusting the length and width of the built-in stitches. You can bring any decorative stitch from your MC12000 into Stitch Composer and customize it any way you like. Then you can save your custom version as a .stx file--don't worry, the MC12000 won't allow you to save over an original built-in stitch.
Do you want more petals on a flower or a slightly different look for an heirloom stitch? Now you can make it exactly what you want.
The MC12000 has 425 built-in stitches. But when you can redraw them this easily, it's like having your choice of thousands of stitches.
Janome embroidery machines have never had to rely on a bulky embroidery unit that sticks out from the side of the machine. Not only do these units require much more room on your sewing table, they often weigh as much as a small machine themselves--something you're reminded of each time you have to remove one to go back to regular sewing.
As we were designing our largest-ever embroidery area for the Horizon Memory Craft 12000, we were able to continues our tradition of sleek design with the help of a sister division at our company. In addition to making sewing machines, Janome is also a world leader in compact, industrial robots. Designed to perform mechanical assembly work with tolerances measured in thousandths of an inch, some of these robots actually help build Janome sewing machines.
One of the breakthrough improvements of our robotics division was the development of an arm that moves along the XY axes on three linear motion guides (instead of just one). Not only can the arm move quickly over a greater distance, it can do it with much greater accuracy.
When this technology was used to build the MC12000's Linear Motion Embroidery System, we utilized multiple ball bearings for smooth, stable movement. This minimizes wear on the parts and makes the whole system much quieter. The unit is also hermetically sealed to keep out dust so it can enjoy the longest possible operating life.
Attaching the embroidery unit to the back of your machine is simple. You set it against your machine so the dots line up. Then simply slide it into place. At less than five inches deep it takes up a small amount of room to the back of your machine.
You only need to remove it if you are transporting your MC12000. Otherwise you'll want to keep it attached for regular sewing as it will give you extra support for your project. But when you do want to take it off, it easily detaches and can be stored in the included carrying case.
The Linear Motion Embroidery System is the first of its kind from Janome. It's what allows the Horizon Memory Craft 12000 to enjoy industry-leading speed and embroidery quality over such a large area.
The extra large embroidery area lets you use four hoops with amazing new capabilities. The largest, the huge GR Hoop, gives you 9.1" x 11.8" of embroidery area. It includes special magnets to aid in fabric stability. The SQ Hoop has been extended to 9.1" x 9.1" and there's also a 5.5" x 5.5" square hoop. The Free Arm Hoop (FA10) allows you to embroider in hard-to-reach places.
The Auto Presser Foot Lift automatically lifts the presser foot after a thread cut, when you’ve pressed the thread snip button, or after a programmed thread cut at the end of a row of decorative stitches. You keep your hands on your project for optimum control.
The extra width makes all your decorative stitches bolder and more distinct. Most of the 425 built-in stitches take full advantage of the 9mm width. You get twenty feet, newly designed for a 9mm stitch width, included with your machine.
For piecing quilts, sewing light fabric or doing embroidery, a straight stitch needle plate makes all the difference. Now you can switch your needle plate in just seconds. Instead of undoing screws, simply push one lever to release the plate, then snap the new plate in place.
Start your Free Motion Quilting or Surface Designing with a straight stitch. Then widen to a 9mm zigzag without stopping or ever taking your hands off your fabric. With Variable Zigzag, you use the knee lifter to broaden and taper stitches while sewing.
Janome engineering allows the Memory Craft 12000 to embroider at up to 1,000 stitches per minute. And because the compact embroidery unit is so stable, you can stitch at this speed with hoops up to 9.1" x 11.8" without losing any Janome stitch quality.
Not only does the Memory Craft 12000 have more work space than any other Janome, the sewing bed features a 15" stainless steel plate embossed with useful measurements. 11" to the right of the needle gives you plenty of room for your biggest projects.
You don’t have to settle for “close enough.” Thanks to a 9mm stitch width, the Memory Craft 12000 is capable of more precise detail than ever on every decorative stitch. Position the needle with unprecedented accuracy for smoother transitions and perfect curves.
Precision stitching, more decorative choices, and automatic features make expressing yourself through FMQ easier than ever. And now, you can also customize the foot height for your project and preference, then save the settings to memory. Or let Auto Pressure and Auto Height adjust for you.
In addition to lighting your work area with 10 built-in LEDs in five locations, you can also add greater illumination in the area where you need it most: directly under the needle. Just extend the retractable HighLight and aim it up or down, depending where you need the light. When you're done, it slides back into its slot.
When you really need to get a closer view, attach the AcuView Magnifier. With 1.5x magnification it makes it easy to see the tiniest detail under the needle. And it can be used in conjunction with the HighLight.
