Purple Ladies & Their Pussycats © 2006 - This quilt is a combination of wadded appliqué and embroidery creating the relief and sculptured blocks. It will engage the senses and your own artistic interpretations. The quilt has ten major blocks of cats and ladies, and 10 small flower blocks, which combine and define the main characters. The quilt uses a “quilt as you go” method. I have made each of the characters into small mini quilts, which have then been attached onto a large quilted canvas by the use of buttons. An alternative finishing method is to join the blocks with trams/sashings. In the final month, instructions will be given for completing the quilt either way. It is essential however to maintain the two-inch border around each block so that this can be achieved.
